The Greenhorn

This story was my first ever entry into a competition, and I won! It was in 2011 in "Up Here" magazine, a mag that showcases the Yukon and Territories. They had a "Write like Robert Service" competition for which I submitted two entries. I won 1st place and the runner-up place with "Lake LaBerge Revisited".

Choices
(Reflections of an Old Cowboy)

This story was chosen by "CowboyPoetry.com" as a feature poem  in 2014. The inspiration for this story was in part, a rancher uncle of mine, as well as an old cowboy I once knew.

Lake LeBarge Revisited

As the title suggests, this story is based on Service's "The Cremation of Sam McGee"
It takes place some years after the original story. It was fun to write, and I like to think Service would have enjoyed it.
This story was also published in "Up Here" magazine.

The Parsons Wife

A much shorter and different type of story that shows we don't always listen to what's being said. This piece was published in a short lived U K  poetry magazine in 2015

I'm Just an Old Set of Wheels

"Reflections on growing older" This story shows how our role in life changes as we get older.  Our "Purpose" in our family becomes less crucial as they, and ourselves age. It's not a bad thing, just different.

Molly's Mule

Now this story can be taken in more than one way; however, I only wrote it one way.
My Mother quite liked it, but always thought it a bit "cheeky".
